Whos sick of dealing with a boss? I know I am. But bosses arent the only types of people I can get sick of. Sometimes Im really fed up with publishers, editors and clients. Theyre always telling me how I should write my articles and they always expect me to write a certain number of articles by a certain deadline. Id just like to write sometimes, but I only have so much time in a day and I have to worry about paying my bills. I really wish there was an easier way to make money without waiting for my blog to finally take off. So I decided to
ry a bunch of user-generated sites to see which ones are the best.
Helium:
This website allows you to submit articles to their marketplace. Sometimes, submissions can command payments of $100, which is great for 600 word articles. But the problem is that you have to write an article that only has a 1 in 18 or so chance of getting accepted. Eighteen other writers are competing with you over the payment. If your article ends up not being the one chosen, you get a nice message that tells you that your article is transitioning to Helium. This means that you will start earning performance payments for your article. But you have to maintain a certain rating in order to earn any money at all. Since you are not likely to get very many pageviews in the first place, your chances of coming away from Helium with any income at all.
Constant-content:
This site works differently from other sites. No upfront payment. No performance payments. Instead, you basically set your articles out like you were at a garage sale. Then you sit and wait forever for your articles to be bought. Oftentimes, they never are. Why waste your time?
Associated Content:
Associated Content seems like a great website. They offer you $2-10 for your hard work. You also earn performance payments on top of that. This seems like such a wonderful deal, yet youre usually lucky to get even $3 from an article. Associated content is very picky about which articles they accept for an upfront payment and the performance payments are almost outrageously small. Youre likely to make more money doing surveys at the mall.
Ninebean
Ninebean is relatively straightforward with payments. Instead of deciding what your article is worth with upfront payments, http://ninebean.com gives you a share of what they are earning from your article. If your article is a great success and makes big money, youll make big money too. But you might be expecting a share of 15% or so for your pageviews. Not so with ninebean. You can expect a whopping 75% revenue share. Thats right. Youre actually making more money than the website owners.
So there you have it. Dont take my word for it. Give these websites a shot and see how well they work. This list is definitely not exhaustive and theres some sites I havent tried yet, like brighthub.
